Bertil Vallien (1938)

Bertil Vallien is a Swedish glass artist and well-known designer at Kosta Boda. Vallien came into contact with art through his meeting with Bo Notini. Notini inspired him to pursue a career as an artist. After completing his education, Vallien worked in his father's decoration shop. He nevertheless decided to continue his education and simultaneously worked as a window dresser, learned figure drawing and then studied ceramics at the art academy in Stockholm. Vallien has also studied in Mexico and the United States. After his return to Sweden in 1963 he started working with Åfors and Kosta Boda (later Orrefors Kosta Boda AB). Vallien often uses sand molds.
