Many animal species are unfortunately extinct or threatened by humans, but artists can also create new animal species. How about these special and cheerful birdfants or olivars? They are called Proboscidea. I never come across them in the Maurickbos or at Landgoed Bleijendijk where I go for a run with two good friends every week. I sometimes see squirrels and roe deer, and the huge trunks of the beech trees sometimes remind me of elephant's feet, but this is the first time I see such a family of beasts. They don't look dangerous. Without eyes, they will have to rely mainly on their nose. It is therefore huge, not only for the smell, but also for the balance. Perhaps the nose is also a suction cup, with which the young can suck themselves on the mother. I hope to meet them somewhere someday.
