Jean Pierre YVARAL (Paris 1934 - Paris 2002)
Painter, Digital Art
Education: Yvaral followed his education from 1950-1953 at the Ecole des Arts, specializing in graphic arts and publicity applications. Yvaral lived and worked in Paris.
Jean Pierre Vasarely known professionally as Yvaral was a French artist and the son of Victor Vasarely. From 1954 Yvaral worked mainly in the field of kinetic art and on art. He worked exclusively in black and white and develops abstract and constructive structures such as reliefs and mobiles.
Yvaral co-founded the Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel (GRAV) in 1960 to arrive at a more abstract visual language developed from simple geometric shapes with a number of other artists. Yvaral had come into contact with cubist shapes and geometric structures at a young age. By combining this with figurative art, he has developed his own original art.
In 1975 Yvaral coined the term ?Numerical Art?, to compose a work of art according to numerical rules or algorithms. From this moment on, Yvaral also used the computer to edit and manipulate images. Although his last photos are always hand-painted. He uses this technique for his portraits, for example with the face of Marilyn Monroe, but in such a way that the original image remains recognizable. In addition to his free work, Yvaral has also designed the Renault logo.
