Kosta Boda (1742)

Kosta Boda

The Swedish glass factory Kosta Boda was founded in 1742 by Anders Koskull and Georg Bogislaus Stael von Holstein under the name Kosta Glasbruk. Drinking glasses and bottles were mainly made, but after criticism of the unoriginal designs in the nineteenth century, it was decided to collaborate with designers and artists. In the twentieth century, Kosta Glasbruk became known for artistic glassware and sculptures. In 1976 the company merged with Boda Glasbruk and Åfors to form Kosta Boda. Now the company exists as part of Orrefors Kosta Boda under the New Wave Group.

Kosta Boda now makes colorful glassware such as vases, bowls, candlesticks, ornaments and sculptures. The company has developed various techniques to realize complex and detailed designs.
