Oene Romkes de Jongh was born in Makkum in 1812 and died in Amsterdam in 1896. He is known for his detailed cityscapes. For this he gets inspiration from, among others, Cornelis Springer, which can be seen in his work. He mainly painted cityscapes of Amsterdam and Zuiderzee harbours.
