(Utrecht 1906 – Gouda 1927)
In 1906 Pieter Cornelis Köhler, employed by Westraven in Utrecht, started producing pottery. Seeing a better future for this, he founded the Potterij Rembrandt company in Nijmegen in 1908, together with C. Oor. It is striking that the work has little of its own character, because many of the models had already been produced by other factories. Nevertheless, the products that were covered with matt glaze, making the colors less bright, are characteristic of Potterij Rembrandt. They also produced products with Greek decorations without glaze and products where the decoration is covered with shiny (lead) glaze. In 1916 Rembrandt went bankrupt due to poor financial results. Nevertheless, Köhler re-established the Rembrandt Pottery in 1920. Nevertheless, it went into liquidation in 1922 and the name was taken over in 1925 by Louis Enneking, who placed the company with Zuid-Holland in Gouda.
