Theo van der BIEZEN (Nuland 1915 - 1986)
Theo van der Biezen was a Brabant painter whose love for his country was reflected in his paintings. Born in Nuland, Van der Biezen started as a painter's assistant for 6 years and, as soon as there was money, followed an education at the Royal Academy of Art, Technology and Craft in 's Hertogenbosch. During the crisis years he barely had enough money to continue painting, but in 1940 he opened a painting company with his brother. It was not until the age of 60 that he could devote himself entirely to painting. Theo van der Biezen's repertoire can be called versatile, he painted still lifes, landscapes, village scenes and portraits. His work is rooted in the Brabant landscape and has a romantic character.
