The group De Nieuwe Beelding, founded in the 1970s, shares its name with the art theory De Nieuwe Beelding of the early 20th century. But where Mondriaan and Van Doesburg were concerned with a radical reform of art, this Nieuwe Beelding focuses on op art and kinetism, sometimes referred to as 'programmed' art.
