The Seven and Five Society

The Seven and Five Society was an artist group made up of seven painters and five sculptors in the United Kingdom. The group was quite traditional and conservative, and wanted to return to classical art. This changed when in 1924 Ben Nicholson, who can be considered one of the pioneers in abstract art, joined the group. Other modernists soon followed, and the non-modernists were kicked out. The name was changed to the Seven and Five Abstract Group in 1935.
