Ans van den Berg behoort tot de kunstenaarsgroep de Amsterdamse Joffers, een groep vrouwen die zich specialiseerde in het schilderen van stillevens en bloemen in een vlotte impressionistische stijl. Zij was de enige van de Amsterdamse Joffers die niet de Academie bezocht, maar die zich door een leertijd in Parijs ontwikkelde tot een bekwaam kunstenares. Ans van den Berg schilderde portretten, figuren en Larense binnenhuisjes, maar haar voorkeur ging toch uit naar het schilderen van bloemstillevens.
