Auke Anne Tadema (1913-1989)
This artist was the grandson of the famous painter Laurens Alma Tadema. To avoid remaining in the shadow of his grandfather, like many sons of celebrities, this artist has sought and found his own way in the artistic world. His strength lay in his drawing technique. His preference was for drawing figures from classical antiquity: Greek and Roman heroes. During his youth, which he spent in England, Auke Anne became acquainted with society life there. So the work you are offered is from the time he lived in England with his parents. Later he established himself as an artist in the Netherlands.
