Corneille was one of the founders and one of the most important representatives of the Cobra movement. He was a very productive artist and created an enormous amount of paintings, sculptures and graphics.
Corneille painted with a great variety of motifs. The different drawing and painting methods are also striking. He was strongly influenced by the work of Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee and the surrealists. He only developed his own powerful and colorful style when Cobra was over.
