  • Johannes (Han) Krug (The Hague, December 21, 1890 - ibid., March 20, 1977) was a Dutch artist.

From 1904 to 1908 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and then worked for some time as a lithographer at the Mouton printing company (The Hague) and the Van Leer printing company (Amsterdam). Around 1910 he settled back in his hometown where he started his own advertising and decoration studio.
He also began to paint and draw landscapes at this time. After 1918 he began to make woodcuts in which he became a great proficiency, mostly landscapes but also calling cards, ex-libris and bibliophile editions. He received an honorary diploma at the Los Angeles exhibition of The Bookplate Association.
In 1923 he became a member of Pulchri Studio, married Tine Vermeulen that same year and started together with her home furnishing company "De Meerkoet", located in their house in the Eschdoornstraat. The offer consisted of wooden furniture, lamps, toys and other applied art that were made in their own studio. Tine made textile parts and batik lampshades.
Due to the crisis of the thirties the demand for this kind of articles decreased and Han Krug started to paint large dune landscapes in oil. Because he did not want to become a member of the Dutch Cultural Chamber he was forced to go into hiding in Wieringen during the Second World War.
After the war he continued to make landscapes in the same vein and was, among other things, co-founder of the Hague Watercolourists.
