Isidoor Opsomer (1878 - 1967) was a realistic and post-impressionist painter of portraits, landscapes and still lifes. He also made etchings and lithographs. He won several national and international prizes.
In 1906 Opsomer became a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In 1926 he became director of the National Higher Institute of Fine Arts. Later he was also director of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp from 1936 to 1949.
In 1940 he was ennobled and given the title of baron. He chose "Maar zomeren zal 't" as his motto.
Together with watchmaker Louis Zimmer, blacksmith Lodewijk Van Boeckel and author-painter Felix Timmermans he formed the Klavertje Vier van Lier.
