- Beautiful monochrome woodcut with black ink on thin paper, 55 x 30 cm, signed in pencil lower right: J. Veringa. Dated around 1935/1940.
- The artist has very cleverly wiped off the ink on the horizon when inking the woodblock, making the horizon greyer than the rest and creating a coulisse perspective. Overall, the print is in very good condition. The woodcut is in the original passe-partout measuring 62 x 32 cm.
Johannes ('Jan') Veringa was born in 1907 in Haarlem and died there in 1982. He was a graphic artist, draftsman and painter. A number of his works are in the collection of the Rijksmuseum and the Frans Halsmuseum.
