Very richly painted still life by famous painter Josy-Anne Pirson ,
born and died in Hasselt. She was trained by Antwerp painter Jan van Puyenbroeck (° 1887), flower and portrait painter.
Pirson was also a ceramist. Her studio was in the Guffenslaan in Hasselt, see photo. See also her self-portrait. She preferred to paint flowers, landscapes and portraits, exhibited in 1958 in Hasselt, in 1959 and 1962 in the Galerie "Mont des Arts" in Brussels. Her works are in the possession of, among others, the City Museum and inventoried by Erfgoedplus; many are also in private collections. Pirson also became famous with paintings of the Virga Jesse statue from the 14th century.
