Poetic and very beautifully made work by the Dutch artist Krin Rinsema. The work is in perfect condition. The spots and black streaks in the white border around the artwork were made by the artist in the process and can be covered with a passe partout but part of the making and editing process of the artist. You can come and view the work in advance in the treasury of gallery Rotor in Gorinchem or pick it up after purchase. The work can also be sent by registered mail. We can do the framing for you.
Krin Rinsema (Meppel, 1947) prefers to make etchings. She uses aluminum offset plates for this, which she gets from the local printer. After six or seven prints, the plate is worn out. The prints therefore already have something unique and she usually continues working on the work afterwards. Sometimes by inking the plate differently and sometimes by continuing to work on the paper with, for example, charcoal.
Her work is about emotions. Man has somehow learned to control and restrain his emotions, but in her work she gives these emotions free rein.
After studying Psychology at the University of Groningen, she attended the art academy in Arnhem. In an interview she once said: “I didn’t study psychology for nothing, I hope it shows in my work. Body language is a fascination for me. A man with a ‘worried’ walk can fascinate me and I feel related to vulnerable people. Self-confident people don’t matter to me.”
Krin expresses herself best in black, black printing ink or charcoal are her preference. Color distracts, because that is not what it is about. Like a true alchemist, Krin constantly experiments with combining different techniques. With the aim of giving her work the right emotionality.
