A very special and large terracotta vase (in ethnographic terms: pseudo-vessel) from the Mangbetu tribe from the former Belgian Oriental Congo. These types of ceremonial terracotta objects were used as grave/altar keepsakes of an exceptional ancestor - they were placed in the circle by the campfire at important gatherings after which the storyteller of the tribe proclaimed the important exploits of the ancestor.
