- Marlies Vonk lives and works in Oirschot and taught at the Academia di Arte di Corsow in the Netherlands Antilles, The Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, USA - and in her own studio. Marlies Vonk's work is distinctly figurative and rooted in the craft tradition. For years she has been fascinated by people in motion. Her characters developed during many study trips. After series of sketches she paints her models in the most diverse guises. Marlies plays with the balance between appearance and reality and likes to use theatrical elements.
