Paul Blanca - complete portfolio (8 lithographs) "Sangre de Toro" 1991 - edition only 35!

• Paul Blanca (Amsterdam 1958 - 2021) "Sangre de Toro", Novillos Novilleros. Rare (because complete and in very good condition) portfolio with eight original pencil numbered and signed lithographs 1991. Housed in an also original, large cardboard box. Published in 35 copies of which this is number 21. The lithographs were printed on Rives 300 GRS, 900 x 700 mm. Introduction by koos Dalstra. Completely complete and in very good condition.

• "Sangre del Toro'. Series of eight silkscreen prints printed with bull's blood. In the early 1990s, Blanca lived in Spain for two years. Bullfights and local seasonal festivals kept him busy. It was not the bullfight itself, but how the bull ended up on the plates in restaurants that intrigued him. He used the blood, which he believes is the liquid of life, as silkscreen ink for his series 'Sangre de Toro'. Only after 35 printings did Blanca reach the darkest shade of red.

Blanca is a provacitive and controversial artist, for that reason he was a suspect in the attack on Rob Scholte in 1993, but was found innocent. Dalstra studied criminalology, and is now a dedicated poet and writer.
