Paul Kostabi (Californie, 1962)
De Amerikaanse kunstenaar is naast schilder een fervent musicus en muziekproducent. Al zijn werken zijn in feite expressionistische zelfportretten, waarin hij zijn angsten probeert kwijt te raken. Hierdoor wordt de dialoog tussen schilder en kijker heel persoonlijk (quote Paul Kostabi). Naast portretten en personen schilderde hij ook landschappen, stillevens en abstracte schilderijen. Paul Kostabj is de broer van Mark Kostabi. Samen hebben zij diverse schilderijen gemaakt, waarvan er ook een aantal zijn opgenomen in het boek over Mark Kostabi, “The Rhythm of Inspiration”. Vanaf 1983 exposeert Paul solo in vele galeries, eerst in Amerika, maar later ook in Engeland, Frankrijk, Argentinië, Duitsland en zeer veel in Italië.
De schilderijen van Paul Kostabi zijn onder andere opgenomen in de permanente collecties van bijvoorbeeld het Guggenheim Museum in New York.
