Historic Amsterdam cityscape by the versatile Utrecht artist Rien Goené from the 1950s.

The Hallen Theater, also known as the Hallen Bioscoop, was a theater and cinema on Jan van Galenstraat 41 in the Amsterdam-West district of Amsterdam. The building in the modernist brick style in the then new residential area was designed by the architect Dick Greiner from 1936. A striking feature of the theater was that the entrance was at the front on Jan van Galenstraat and the exit one floor lower on Geuzenkade at the back of the theater. Due to declining visitor numbers, the theater located outside the city center became less and less profitable and was closed in 1974. The building was unfortunately demolished and replaced by a new building complex.

His work is in various museums, public and private collections in the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Canada and America, among others, and he carried out many monumental commissions in wood, iron and bronze.

The painting comes with a certificate.
