  • Coarse and pasty (thick) painted oil on canvas painting, painted in the very cold winter of 1963 by the Haarlem impressionist Roelof Klein (1915-1981). Beautiful representation of a frozen Spaarne with the Bavo church on the left. Signed and dated lower right. The painting is in good condition, as is the original 1960s frame.

  • Born February 6, 1915 in Leeuwaarden, died November 15, 1981 in Haarlem, Netherlands. He was a completely self-taught (self-educated) painter who developed a unique expressionist style with cubist elements. Worked mainly with watercolor and pencil. Member of several Haarlem art groups, such as "Kunst is Onze Doel" and "de Groep". He was a painter, sculptor and illustrator. His paintings are in the collection of the Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem, among others.
