Victor VASARELY (Pécs 1906 - Paris 1997)

Victor Vasarely was a French-Hungarian artist, born in Pecs, Hungary. He was educated in Budapest and later moved to Paris. Vasarely was a world famous artist who worked with geometric, mathematical shapes. He was one of the most important artists of Abstract Painting and a representative of Op Art. In Pecs there is a museum especially dedicated to Vasarely's work. Virtually all major modern art museums own work by Vasarely.
