Constructivism artists wanted to create works of art that combined geometric compositions with images of modern technology and industry. That's why they called themselves 'artist-engineers'. Despite the fact that the works have certain visual characteristics (abstraction and geometry), there were opposing ideas within the movement about the role of art. There was a side that believed that art could and should influence society. In contrast, the idea that art was a separate activity without social or political obligations.
