Evert ROOT (Amsterdam 1896 - Amsterdam 1978
Cutting artist. Worked at his father's painting business. He could use his talent in painting decorations. He liked to visit the Rijksmuseum and then he gave his own interpretation with the scissors of the paintings. After his retirement he devoted himself entirely to haircutting. Portraits, occasional clippings, topical and protest clippings, often with underlining in the text. His work is direct, it looks like a woodcut. He worked with double paper, one copy for the client and one for himself.
