Hein Andrée can be considered one of the most important potters, especially in the field of glaze. Working mainly with his older brothers until 1920, who used simple shapes and plain glazes, Andrée gradually developed an interest in art pottery. It was inspired by the Jugendstil and the Chinese Sung dynasty, which resulted in graceful shapes and special glazes. After the Second World War, Andrée stopped producing ceramics. He was not a well-known ceramist at the time. It was his student Henny Radijs who ensured that his work gained posthumous fame.
