John Rädecker is best known for his contribution to the National Monument on the Dam in Amsterdam, for which he asked Adriaan Roland Holst to write the text. Due to his death, he was unable to finish everything. His sons Han and Jan Willem Rädecker did that. He died on the day the statue "Maria and the Child" was placed.
